Deinze, November 3, 2009 – ADAM Software released ADAM 4.5 – the latest version of its enterprise Digital Asset Management platform. Next to known strengths such as infinite taxonomy, robust media workflows, all format support, flexibility & scalability, this version focuses on higher interoperability with other programming languages, applications and systems.
Eliminating mundane tasks gives developers the change to create robust solutions in a shorter timeframe. ADAM 4 already offered all the benefits of the Microsoft .NET Framework but in ADAM 4.5 even more time saving tools are added:
New customization topics in the development guide: the provider model and RAD controls in ADAM not only speedup custom development, they also offer solid, documented components as a good starting point for your customizations. From the media engine provider framework, that let you choose your own media converter, up to custom rule actions and conditions: all those are now covered in the Development Guide.
Enhanced Maintenance: site specific maintenance management is now built-in, allowing you to further fine-tune where and when those large behind-the-scenes actions should be executed.
New native ADAM web controls: standard ASP.NET controls don’t always match with the highly dynamic nature of ADAM objects. The new Stateful Form View is capable of storing information about the objects it renders, resulting in a more accurate and faster web development.
Flexible classification security: ADAM already offered unlimited taxonomy and metadata features. Now ADAM 4.5 offers the ability to break the inheritance of classification security. This feature allows you to set up complex permission structures on taxonomy.
Enhanced full-text indexing: classification information is now full-text indexed.
Enhanced Processing of complex Adobe Illustrator files: ADAM 4.5 handles Illustrator files with links to other imported assets the same way as InDesign lay-outs. ADAM identifies the master document and auto creates links and previews for all files that are used in the composition.
Not only developers benefit from this update. Next to e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 support, more than 40 new features will give ADAM customers an even more flexible platform than the one they already knew from previous versions.
